"Dr. Hurd is supportive of my personal and professional goals. During
our coaching sessions she gives me constructive feedback regarding my
progress in meeting my goals. Mary Alice listens to my ideas, accomplishments,
and concerns. When I get overwhelmed or frustrated, she encourages me
to look at my accomplishments. She is able to put things into perspective
for me. When it comes to my success, she is my 'biggest fan!'
Mary Alice’s expertise and insight has been and continues to be
invaluable to me and my ability to meet my goals." - Brenda Hott,
Texas

"Mary Alice is the most positive well-adjusted person I have ever
known. This is true despite the fact she has faced serious personal challenges.
For example, Mary Alice’s father died when she was 3. She
was raised by a single mother – back before that was common. Mary
Alice lost both her mother and her first husband to cancer.
As a university professor, she faced the restrictions of academia –
even while she taught highly popular classes. Mary Alice, with her Ph.D.
in psychology, chose the interesting special focus of people in the work
place.
I have personally been helped by Mary Alice at times when change was
thrust upon me. She has been my personal and professional coach for years
– lucky me!" - Ceil Sinnex, Virginia

“Even though I’ve never seen her in person, Dr. Mary Alice
Hurd has touched my life with her very talented telephone coaching in
a special way. A friend sent me a copy of her Pilot-Your-Life
newsletter.
I was so impressed with the contents that I wrote her a note thanking
her and expressing how helpful I found the contents! She telephoned, and
the conversation was fun and I found so many things about her that I liked!
As a result, I thought of her when I faced a personal crisis that required
a non-family member to assist me in seeking ‘peace of mind.’
I was scheduled to have surgery for lung cancer! Having had ovarian cancer
with one recurrence (in remission now), I was feeling insecure about facing
the possibility of more of the same! I wanted to control the decisions
about my course of treatment and yet be able to laugh at myself whenever
necessary. I needed help and Dr. Hurd was exactly the person to coach
me. She was wonderful. She helped me to solve my doubts in such a way
that I could leave my family with what I felt would allow them to celebrate
any outcome with only great memories.
Mary Alice helped me to face all my thoughts – resulting in a wonderful
feeling of peace and nighttime hours of restful sleep. Many thanks go
to her for helping me to think through a serious personal crisis and to
reach a positive solution. My cancer was totally removed in the least
invasive way. There was no relation to the ovarian cancer. No chemo was
required. So many blessings!” - Elva Burgchardt, Pennsylvania
"When I first started coaching my cholesterol was so high the doctor
had me come to her office every two weeks. My goals were to get on an
exercise program, lose weight and stop thinking so many negative thoughts.
Mary Alice helped me think about my options and make a plan. I purchased
a bike and started riding it several times a week. I started to buy more
healthy food and prepare healthy meals and snacks. I started to walk at
lunch time and I returned to my yoga class. In addition, I decided I would
start taking required classes at a junior college to work toward my goal
to work with deaf people.
Having somebody to talk to who understood me got me 'off my butt.'
Instead of just talking about doing something, I do it. Now I think about
what I am doing and realize I can make changes. Now I don’t let
little things bother me. My cholesterol level is under control and my
blood pressure has gone down. My doctor only has me report in every 2
months. An extra plus is that my relationship with my husband is much
closer and happier." - Jana Moody

"There are so many wonderful characteristics that describe Mary Alice.
I first met Mary Alice at Southern Methodist University when she was my
professor. Within the first few minutes of listening to her speak and
feeling her passion, I knew my personal and career growth would be positively
affected. As our professional relationship continued, she not only became
a mentor but a dear friend.
Mary Alice has been a professional coach and mentor to me for the last
ten years. I highly recommend her as a coach who will ensure your personal
and professional development. The growth that Mary Alice can provide her
clients is extraordinary; she is a professional woman with great passion
for her expertise and has excelled over many years of experience in a
coaching/mentoring role." - Stacy Haygood, Colorado
